In a recent conversation with an 8-year-old female, I had the pleasure of learning more about the state of nutritional health education. The conversation went something like this: Me: “So, what’s your favorite food?” Her: “Including fruits and vegetables?”
At this point in the conversation I was trying to think of an alternative food choice besides fruits and vegetables. Then, as I looked down at the just-baked frozen pizza I was inhaling, I remembered that I lived in a society that believes that “real” food is meat and sugar and that “alternative” food is that yucky green stuff. In my opinion, this is extremely upsetting.
So next time you see a kid eating a double whopper, or a grilled cheese, just remember that they are the future of our country. You are what you eat.
